Lecturer in Children’s Learning and Development.
Summary
In addition to my experience as a HE lecturer, I have significant sector experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including setting up interventions for the local authority.
About
I began working at UCDon as a part of the Adapt Team, helping HE students with academic skills such as essay construction, referencing and critical writing/thinking, before I began lecturing across a range of Children’s Learning and Development programmes.
Teaching
I am passionate about working with, and supporting, children with SEND as well as helping practitioners to develop their own pedagogies that will help them develop in their roles. I have lectured on a range of modules for FD Children’s Learning and Development, FD Supporting Children with SEND and BA(Hons) Early Childhood Studies programmes.
Further Industry Experience
I have over a decade’s worth of sector experience. I have worked in various roles supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) since 2014. I first worked as a teaching assistant at a local special school alongside being a short breaks worker for families of children with SEND. I then moved to Doncaster Council where I implemented and launched and independent travel training scheme to help teach independence to young people with SEND wanting to travel to school or college independently.
