Curriculum Leader for Social Sciences,
Thaleia Ashley is a Curriculum Leader for Social Sciences, where she provides strategic leadership across programme development, line management, and operational oversight for Humanities degree provision. With extensive experience in both academic and professional settings, Thaleia plays a key role in shaping curriculum direction, supporting staff, and strengthening the learning experience for students across the department.
Thaleia holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, an MA in Educational Leadership with a focus on online and distance learning, a PGCE, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Her academic experience includes teaching business for the University of Lincoln on distance-learning programmes and working as an Associate Lecturer with the Open University, specialising in retail management.
Her subject specialisms span Human Resource Management, Business Strategy, Marketing, and Digital Literacy, underpinned by training as a mentor and a commitment to supporting both staff and student development.
Before entering higher education, Thaleia accumulated 16 years of industry experience in food retail, developing strong operational management and leadership expertise. She has also contributed significantly to her community through volunteer work, including service as a Special Constable and 18 years as a school governor, as well as acting as Treasurer for a local youth club.
Thaleia’s academic and professional practice are informed by her broad industry background, commitment to educational leadership, and passion for student success. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, walking her dog, and watching Strictly—hobbies that bring balance to her otherwise fast‑paced professional life.
