Upon completion of your Pearson BTEC Higher National Certificate in Construction Management (Construction Site Supervisor) you will have developed a sound understanding of the construction process from design to completion, ensuring you will be ready to take the next step forward into designing and managing of construction projects, or take further qualifications to further your knowledge and understanding of the industry.

The primary way of delivering this course is on campus
On campus teaching includes a combination of lectures, small group seminars, workshops, guest lectures, field trips and one to one discussion with your tutor. Online opportunities for learning may also be utilised.
The academic year is 30 weeks in duration with students expected to attend two days a week on a full-time programme and one day a week on a part time programme.
Further students will receive 14 hours of teaching per week when attending on a full-time course and 7 hours part time. Additional one-to-one meetings with tutors will provide further support.
The assessment methods for HTQ pathways within Construction can vary depending on the context in which the assessment is set. However, here are some assessment methods that may be used:
Coursework: Coursework assignments allow you to demonstrate your practical skills and knowledge in construction. These assignments may involve tasks such as analysing construction drawings, conducting cost estimates, preparing project plans, or writing reports on construction methods and techniques.
Practical Assessments: Practical assessments evaluate your ability to apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills to real construction scenarios. You may be required to demonstrate skills such as building construction, surveying, setting out, or using construction equipment and tools.
Projects: Projects provide an opportunity to showcase your ability to plan, develop, and deliver a significant construction-related task or project. This may involve designing a building, developing a construction plan, managing a construction site, or executing a construction project from start to finish.
Presentations: Presentations allow you to communicate your knowledge, findings, and project outcomes to an audience. You may be required to present a research project, explain construction techniques, present a case study, or discuss construction management strategies.
Site Visits and Reports: Site visits to construction projects provide first-hand exposure to real-world construction practices. You may be required to visit construction sites, observe construction activities, and write reports on your observations, analyses, and recommendations.
Portfolios: Portfolios are collections of your work that demonstrate your skills, knowledge, and achievements in construction. They may include examples of project work, coursework, reports, and other relevant materials.
Work-based Assessments: In some cases, your workplace experience or placement may be considered for assessment. This may involve the evaluation of your performance in a construction-related role, completion of work-based projects, or submission of workplace reports.
Applicants would normally be expected to have a minimum of 32 UCAS Tariff points. A BTEC Extended Diploma, Diploma, Subsidiary Diploma, Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship or one A level, in a relevant subject (maths, science, geography). Alternative qualifications and relevant experience may also be considered.

If you wish to continue studying beyond this course, it will provide you with a strong academic basis to do so. Course progression routes may include The HNC course is designed to provide progression onto a BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) top-up or a higher apprenticeship top-up. This will also then offer a route to study a top-up degree in architectural technology and design, construction or project manager or a related discipline as well as progression to professional body membership.
