Students and staff from the Mental Health and Wellbeing programme at the University Campus North Lincolnshire (UCNL) have once again brought festive cheer to children in need, through their annual Santa’s Suitcase campaign.
Now in its third year, the initiative encourages students to donate gifts for local families who might otherwise go without this Christmas.
The donated gifts will be distributed by the North Lincolnshire Family Hub, ensuring that children and young people most in need receive a present in time for Christmas Day.
Sara Brown, Programme Lead for Mental Health and Wellbeing, expressed her appreciation: “My colleague Fiona Magill and I would like to thank all our students for their incredible generosity. These thoughtful gifts will make a real difference to families who may otherwise go without.
“We are proud to work in partnership with the Family Hubs to ensure these presents reach children in time for Christmas.”
The gifts were warmly received by Helen Keneally, Senior Family Hub Worker, who highlighted the impact: “Christmas can be a difficult time for many families, especially the 25 currently living in temporary accommodation.
“Thanks to your kindness, these toys and gifts will bring joy to children facing challenging circumstances.”
This campaign reflects UCNL’s commitment to community support and the spirit of giving during the festive season.
