Education and early childhood spans over a short period of rapid development where highly skilled practitioners have the opportunity to enhance children’s experiences, resulting in improved outcomes.
Our Education and Early Years programmes have a strong emphasis on work-based, competency learning meaning you’ll be able to apply academic study to practice. This could be through your current employment with children or through a placement within an early years or education setting.
Our on-campus and distance learning courses cover a wide range of critical and contemporary theories which inform current practice in the field of education and early years. This will enable you to develop the knowledge to support children’s learning and development from birth to 18 years of age.
Awarded by the University of Hull but delivered through DN Colleges our degrees are suited to practitioners in employment who wish to gain further knowledge and develop their skills to ensure the best outcomes for the children they work with as well as people who are interested in breaking into the sector.

I am part of the Education and Arts department, I teach on a diverse range of programmes across levels, including foundation degree and BA honours courses within the subjects of Early Childhood and Education. I have an extensive level of industry experience which I transfer and integrate into my pedagogical approaches.

I have been working within the SEND sector for the past decade in various roles. I began as a teaching assistant at a local special education school, whilst also working as a short breaks worker – providing activities for children with SEND after school and during the school holidays

I teach a range of modules at undergraduate level within the HE School of Education and Arts lecturing team. My role incorporates developing links with Higher Education Colleges within Northern Ireland, drawing on previous experience as a Human Resources professional.

I am a programme leader for the Education and Early Childhood Studies suite of Programmes at our Doncaster campus. I have industry experience working in the early years sector and working in the Domestic Abuse sector, supporting high risk children and their families.

I am a Programme Leader for the Foundation Degree in Special Educational Needs, Disabilities and Inclusion (SENDI) and lead on several modules in other programmes in early years and education from levels 4 to 6. I have extensive experience in Early Years as a Manager and SENCO supporting children and families with SEND.

I teach on a range of undergraduate programmes focusing on supporting vulnerable children and young people. I am also a Forest School Trainer and qualified practitioner. I obtained a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies from the University of Hull, followed by an MA in Early Childhood Studies.
