Subject Area: Biosciences

Awarded by Sheffield Hallam University.

The Bioscience and Biochemistry programmes provide students with the opportunity to focus on specific fields of study within the world of science.  Both programmes encapsulate key scientific areas from Microbiology to Genetics. Alongside theoretical concepts, each module has a practical aspect delivered in our purpose build laboratory. The Bioscience and Biochemistry programme requires student to undertake work placements within industry which compliments the fundamental knowledge gained within UCNL.

Through extensive engagement with employers and work experience providers, students will develop an impressive portfolio of experience. Under the guidance and support of a highly skilled, qualified team, this
programme also welcomes individuals who are currently working in the science sector.
A distinctive feature of the programme is the extended engagement with digital technologies. All students will be provided with an iPad in year 1 to enable them to develop the skills needed to support learning in this
technological age. Year 2 students are given the opportunity to apply for a £200 bursary to support their future career. Previous students have utilised the bursary to attend the HPV conference in Dublin, undertake a phlebotomy course and become an emergency responder.
