Shelley Forster MA, BA (Hons), PGCE

Lecturer for Initial Teacher Education for the Lifelong Learning sector.

Summary

I deliver Initial Teacher Education for the Lifelong Learning sector.  I have been involved in teacher education for over twenty years. I am an experienced practitioner having taught across a range of levels both in Further and Higher Education.  I have maintained Quality roles within the sector throughout my career and work with external partner to maintain consistent and current standards.

About

I obtained a BA (Hons) English Literature and Language with Sheffield Hallam University, followed by a PGCE in Further and Higher Education with the University of Wolverhampton. Within my first two years of teaching, as part of an Enhanced Lecturer role, I mentored Lecturers undertaking Initial Teacher Education; this experience led me to undertake an MA in Education (focusing on Post Compulsory Education and Training) with the University of Huddersfield.

I have written Beacons Awards and facilitated conferences on a range of topics, including widening participation in STEM subjects and use of digital platforms to support Professional Practices within Initial Teacher Education.

Teaching

At University Campus Doncaster, I teach mainly on the Certificate in Education, Professional Gradate in Education and Post Graduate Certificate in Education Programmes. I believe that the teachers of tomorrow need to be fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and attributes needed for the learners of tomorrow.
