Ideally suited to existing practitioners supporting children and young adults aged 0-25 with special educational needs or disabilities, we will help you build an in-depth understanding of theories, factors and contexts for Special Educational Needs, Disability and Inclusion (SENDI). and prepare you for roles that can make a genuine difference.
You’ll study key themes in working with children including safeguarding vulnerable children, working in a multiagency context, global perspectives and theories of development and learning, along with exploring the challenges of supporting and working with families of children with SENDI.
Everything you learn on a degree will be underpinned by outstanding professional practice to help you develop knowledge and how this can be applied in real world scenarios.

Joanne Taylor MA, BA (Hons), QTLS
HE Curriculum Lead: Education and Early Childhood Studies and SENDI
As Curriculum Lead for this area, I’m proud to work alongside an exceptional teaching team delivering high-quality programmes of study. My career began in early years and educational settings, where I developed a strong passion for supporting learning and development. I later moved into teaching in Further Education and then Higher Education, gaining experience across a wide variety of programmes and learners.

Sarah Johnson MA, BA (Hons),PGCE, EYT, QTLS

I am a Programme Leader for the Foundation Degree in Special Educational Needs, Disabilities and Inclusion (SENDI) and lead on several modules in other programmes in early years and education from levels 4 to 6. I have extensive experience in Early Years as a Manager and SENCO supporting children and families with SEND.

I am a Programme Leader for the Top Up and MA SENDI programmes and a module lead on a range of programmes from level 4-7, covering subjects such as SENDI, Early Childhood Studies, and Education Studies

I have been working within the SEND sector for the past decade in various roles. I began as a teaching assistant at a local special education school, whilst also working as a short breaks worker – providing activities for children with SEND after school and during the school holidays

Kelly Severn MA, BA (Hons),EYP.
HE Lecturer and Programme Leader
I teach on a range of undergraduate programmes focusing on supporting vulnerable children and young people. I am also a Forest School Trainer and qualified practitioner. I obtained a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies from the University of Hull, followed by an MA in Early Childhood Studies.

Sam Robinson MA, BA (Hons), FHEA
HE Lecturer and Programme Leader.
I am a programme leader for the Education and Early Childhood Studies suite of Programmes at our Doncaster campus. I have industry experience working in the early years sector and working in the Domestic Abuse sector, supporting high risk children and their families.
